Enlightened Self Interest at Davos

From the  diary of Jim Fruchterman. Three key topics emerged during the town hall meetings at Davos: fighting poverty, equitable globalisation and climate change. Tony Blair called it enlightened self interest. At the other World Forum, people ar conscious of this and are somewhat happy about it.

"Slowly Davos is starting to increase its involvement in these issues, but the Social Forum remains an important source of pressure," says Salil Shetty, director of the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals Campaign.

"Its work is crucial and it's going to carry on."

Just as a side note, see Larry Lessig's experience from the WSF.
