Currently, I am reading Robert O'Harrow's book No Place to Hide. So, Patriot act has been on mind. Today, the Senate Judiciary committee began its hearing on the oversight of the Patriot act, which is slated for renewal this year. For me this will be one of the most important issues of the year, if not THE most important issue. Three useful resources for information on the USA Patriot act:
Barry Ritholtz is not happy with the music recording industry. This is not news to me as I read his blog regularly, but today he is really upset about the it may be legal, but it is not moral argument made against the use of P2P .
Apologists for the recording industry cannot in good faith argue that everyone but themselves needs to “do the right thing.” They have shown a propensity for doing the wrong thing -- both legal and illegal -- time and again.
I’m all for moral behavior. However, I have no patience for an ethics lectures from a corrupt and incompetent ring of real pirates.
Barry argues that an industry that engaged in price fixing, copyright extension, radio consolidation, and refused to take up digital distribution channels needs to clean up its act before going after others on a moral ground.
